华沙,印第安纳州. (December 7, 2021) – The 科修斯科山 Economic Development 公司 (KEDCO) 和 的城市 华沙 today announced the acquisition of the former Owens’ grocery store site in downtown 华沙. The effort has been spearheaded by the City 和 is supported by the KEDCO 住房 Initiative.
“Our team is working with local partners to encourage the development of additional workforce 住房 in proximity to leading employers,” said KEDCO CEO Alan Tio, “We are excited to support the City’s vision for reuse of this site as a catalytic project that will lead to additional opportunities throughout the 县.”
KEDCO launched its 住房 Initiative in response to a 住房 market potential study commissioned by the 科修斯科山 县 Community Foundation (KCCF)，和 科修斯科山 县 和 的城市 华沙 governments, that forecasts a potential market for approximately 2,000 new residential units in 科修斯科山县 by 2024.

A proposal from 齐默 Biomet was selected by the 印第安纳州的住房 & Community Development Authority’s ‘anchor employer workforce 住房 demonstration program’ in 2019 to establish a $2 million Workforce 住房 Revolving Loan Fund. That fund has exp和ed with $2 million from KCCF’s “Working Together” initiative that was made possible through a GIFT VII grant from 礼来公司 养老公司. in 2020.

KEDCO is finalizing a development agreement with a regional development team for a mixed-use project at the former Owen’s site 和 will work through the winter with the development team, the 的城市 华沙, other local partners to finalize plans for the project.
